Kidz Danz Kompany, the first and only Children’s Modern Dance Company in San Diego, will be staging their 2nd concert “Mixed Up Little Boxes and Other Stuff” this March 19, 20, & 21 at 7pm.  The concert will take place at Visionary Performance Space on 7202 El Cajon Blvd. San Diego, CA 92115.

Kidz Danz Kompany (KDK) will be presenting an evening of varied works set on them from such Choreographers as Elyssa Dru Rosenberg(Artistic Director of isadoraNow), Ramon Montes(Visionary Dance Theatre Dancer), Kiona Daelyn(Visionary Dance Theatre Master Teacher), and Artistic Director Spencer John Powell.

KDK was originally founded in 1994 in Utah by Spencer John Powell and just recently revived here in San Diego, CA at Visionary School for the Performing Arts. They premiered here in San Diego last year with their 1st concert.

Elyssa Dru Rosenberg(Artistic Director of isadoraNow) will be setting a piece with traditional Isadora Duncan movement on the KDK performers.  She holds a Masters in Dance and Dance Education from New York University and a Bachelors in Political Science from Tufts University.  Elyssa is the founder and director of isadoraNOW, is a choreographer, dancer and educator who recently relocated to San Diego from New York City, where she was a recognized Isadora Duncan teacher and scholar.

The Artistic Director will present a work based on a 1990 work of his titled The Adventures Of SKS.  This work from his college student days is based on his life-long friendships whom he has been friends with since they were 5 years old.   He has re-worked the piece, changed the music and the title to reflect the years since 1990.  One of Powell’s past stand-out students, Jared Hunt, performed in the work when he was 10 years old and went to become a professional Principle Dancer in some Major ballet companies around the world. This work will now include an honor to Mr. Hunt who danced the lead in 1990. Taylor, a KDK performer,  will revive Mr. Hunt’s role for this new re-work titled Timothy. It will be dedicated to those same friends who started out life together some 42 years ago.

Additionally, KDK will try something new! We will have our first parent, father choreographer, Mr. Torres, present a new work.  He is an athletic coach and has never danced before. Come check out what we hope will be an on going part of KDK, that is to have the dancers’ Fathers come in and set a work on the KDK Dancers.

Come out and Catch The Vision!
